1. When was NHLI started?

NHLI was started in the year 2008 under the aegis of New Horizon Educational Institution (NHEI) by our beloved chairman visionary Shri Mohan Mangnani. First batch of PGDM program was started in the Month of Aug 2008 and completed with Graduation on 21st May, 2010. 90 per cent of the students were employed before the graduation day.( Visit our website : www.nhliedu.com for placement details.

2. Why choose PGDM?

PGDM program is superior to any typical university MBA programs because
a. PGDM is a trimester pattern with more intensive knowledge orientation.
b. PGDM syllabus is revised and updated once in six months whereas in universities syllabus is revised once in five years.

3. Is PGDM is affiliated to any university?
No, it is not affiliated to any university, it is an autonomous program approved by AICTE , Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. All India Council for Technical Education is the apex body to approve these type of programs.

4. Is NHLI ISO Certified?

NHLI is the first B – school in India to get ISO certification before starting the academic sessions. NHLI has recently obtained ISO9001 – 2008 certification under the joint accreditation system of Australia New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).


5. IS NHLI PGDM is approved by AICTE, can I see the proof of the approval.

7. How many trimesters are there in PGDM

Six trimesters. In the last trimester every student has to carry out Project Dissertation work which could be both industry oriented and organization oriented. This project gives practical exposure towards various functional areas of management.

8. How many papers are there in each Trimester

In total there are seven papers in each trimester, out of which one paper is a practical oriented paper with practical examination/presentations/project report. A ‘Satisfactory’ Grade in this paper would support promotion to the next Trimester.

9. How the evaluation is done at NHLI?

NHLI follows a very transparent and systematic evaluation process. Teaching, paper setting and evaluation are done by three different persons to ensure higher degree of reliability in the evaluation system.
The results are declared only after the approval of a high powered Pass Board – A committee with two external members in the cadre directors/principals autonomous B-Schools/Universities, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Senior Professors of NHLI under the Chairmanship of Director NHLI.

10. What is the evaluation procedure at NHLI?
The evaluation procedures consist of course-wise evaluation, overall assessment of each Trimester, Assessment of Corporate Exposure Training, Project Dissertation, Overall assessment of the performance. An Eight Point Grading system is adopted for evaluating the student in each of the terms. A student wil
l not be promoted to the second year if he/she has more than 2 F Grades. The Letter grades are awarded as below:

12. Are there any industrial visits during the program

Yes. Students will be taken to 5-6 industrial visits during the two year period on an average one industrial unit per trimester.

13. How much weightage is given for internal assessment?
NHLI lays emphasis on continuous evaluation and hence accorded 50% weightage to Internal Assessment which includes class tests, assignments, presentations, quizzes etc. and remaining 50% weightage is given to external evaluation

14. When placement activity is initiated?

From the II Trimester onwards.

NHLI, because of its strong network with industry has designed a unique Long Term Internship Cum Marketing/Management Trainee program under which every student will get an opportunity to work with reputed companies as intern for two days a week in the first year and three days a week in the second year. These companies will offer stipends up to Rs.5000 per month during Internship and attractive jobs after students successfully complete PGDM.
In other words, in a majority of cases, the placements are definite, provided students work hard, score good grades in exams and perform well during internships.

15. What the Placement Record of Last year and this year?
As far as the placement record is concerned 90% of the first batch students are placed before graduation day.
50% of the second batch students are working with reputed companies on various projects and a majority of them have been offered permanent employment opportunities immediately after completion of VI Trimester and award of PGDM Degrees. Visit www.nhliedu.com for more details.

16. What is the salary range of last year placements?
The salaries offered ranged from 2.4 lakhs per annum to 5.0 lakhs per annum.

17. Which are the major industries that hire PGDM students?
Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, ITES, Consulting, Telecom, Retail have hired a majority I batch students.

18. On what basis the students are chosen for placements?
Based on their general academic track record, domain knowledge, attendance, consistency in marks, knowledge of subjects, right attitude to work and general behavior.

19. What is CET and What is the duration of the CET
Corporate Exposure Training is an ‘on the job training’ the students to undergo between III and IV Trimesters. During CET, students will have practical exposure on different functional departments like, finance, HR, marketing and systems. The students learn to relate the theory they have learnt in class rooms with industrial practices. At the end of the training the student will have knowledge of various functions of the organization. This exposure will also help students to choose specialization.

20. What is the duration of the Project Dissertation / project work?
The Project Dissertation is carried out in the VI trimester where there will not be course work . It is a Full Time Project, normally carried out under joint supervision of a company mentor and a faculty guide. The duration project dissertation is 60 days.
21. How many marks will dissertation carry? Are there any exams for project?
In PGDM Program Project Dissertation is very important component and carries 300 Marks.
There will three viva voce examinations conducted during project dissertation to ensure the quality of the work carried out. More emphasis is given for dissertation because after the completion the students will start working.

22. How many qualifying projects are required for obtaining the desired specialization?
The students of PGDM will be required to do two mini-projects in each specialization to qualify to study that specialization. These projects will be given due weightage during the assessment processes of the specialization courses(papers).

23. What is SAP and what advantage do I have in taking up the course
NHLI introduced an Integrated SAP Training program under which SAP Training will be provided to PGDM students a part of the curriculum. SAP training enhances placement opportunities of students with higher starting salaries.
What is SAP? System Application Product in Data Processing (SAP) is an ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) software solution company. SAP software runs in 89000 customer’s world-wide and 12000 in India with 65% market share. SAP India customers are 4600 like TATA, Hyundai, Saint Gobain, Caterpillar, ONGC, Coal, IOC, Bharat Petroleum, Marico etc. SAP software is implemented by 380 partner community in India like TCS, Deloitte, Cognizant, Wipro, HCL, Hexaware, IBM, Accenture, Cap gemini etc.

24. Is there any separate department for placements
Yes. NHLI has created a Centre for Career Development and Placements which works under the headship of the Institute Director with eminent Advisory Board and a dedicated placement officer. A five member Student Placement Committee will be assisting placements.
25. How frequently seminars, workshops, and conferences are conducted.
Once in fortnight

26. Will there be any international industrial visits.
Yes. International Study Tour and opportunity for doing projects abroad is a part of PGDM Global stream . However, it is optional for PGDM Corporate on a cost to cost basis.

27. What is PGDM Corporate and PGDM Global?

In order to carter to the educational needs potential students with varying educational needs, we are offering PGDM Programs in two different brands-Corporate and Global.
The two variants in PGDM have many value added certifications during the two year period along with PGDM Degrees.
PGDM CORPORATE
PGDM Corporate is a general program in which we offer value added certifications covering a variety of areas like English language competencies, Entrepreneurship Development, SAP Training etc.
PGDM GLOBAL
In case of PGDM (GLOBAL) the students will be offered three more value added programs- (i) An International Study Tour (ii) An online certification program in chosen specialization area from U-21 Global- a Singapore based educational corporation which has academic partnerships with four globally renowned universities- University of Birmingham, University of Melbourne, University of Nottingham and University of Virginia. and (iii) A Certification in Advanced Management and Leadership from NHLI. All these value added certifications are offered without any additional charge from the students.

28. How NHLI is connected with industry and professional associations?
NHLI since inception is enjoying the patronage of various professional bodies and organizing a number of events in association with such bodies.
NHLI is Institutional Member in
(i) Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMIDSA)- A strong international network of B-Schools of all SAARC countries.
(ii) Association of Indian Management Schools(AIMS): An association of 550 B-Schools in India and a permanent member of All India Management Board constituted by AICTE which supports AICTE in policy making in management education.

(iii) All India Management Association: The oldest and most respected professional body representing management professionals in India. AIMA conducts MAT examination for admission into Post Graduate Level Management Programs in India. NHLI has institutional membership of AIMA represented by Local Management Association- Bangalore Management Association

(iv) Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries(FKCCI) is a major association of state level chambers of commerce and industries including small, medium and large and an advisory body to the Government of Karnataka in industrial policy making and implementation.

In addition NHLI has academic associations with IIM Bangalore and British Council Library as member of their libraries.
